is your town online?

We strongly believe that you have the right to privacy while using our site and services. To show our commitment to your privacy, we have produced this privacy policy that we operate against when ever we come in to contact with any of your personal information.

Information we collect
There are several ways that we collect information on our visitors that use the products and services of our web sites.

On a basic level our web servers collect industry standard statistics to produce logs of general web site usage, as do most internet web sites. This information is not linked with any one individual, or company.

We also collect information on our members of the web site. We only collect information that we feel is necessary to provide our visitors with the best experience possible. This includes member profiles, visitor surveys and correspondence.

Who has access to the information and how is it used
The information you submit is kept secure on our servers. We restrict internal use of the data to that what is only needed and only be authorised personnel. The information we collect never goes out side of the organisation, unless we explicitly inform you prior to submission.

Were we provide a cobranded service, we may have to occasionally pass member information to the third party for the service to operator correctly. If this is the case you will be informed before we do so.

There are some cases personal information may be passed to a to sponsors and key business partners when we run promotions and competitions. Again, if this is the case, you will be informed before your details are passed.

In all cases were information is being passed outside of our organisation, you will be informed before hand. We will only then pass the subset of data that is required.

Of the data we collect for internal use, we do so for several reasons. This activity is done to provide us with visitor demographics. By collecting certain information, we do so that we can offer you a better quality of service, providing content and services that you are particularly interested in.

Summaries of demographics may be passed to clients and advertisers at our discretion. However this information will be statistics only, i.e. 15% of our visitors come from Wales.

Gaining access to your information
Typically most information that you submit to use will be through your member profile. You are entitled to view, amend or delete this at any time. However, having done so you will loose access to member only areas, including administration areas should you be an authorised administrator for our community hosting services.

Your email address
Although we periodically distribute emails with services information and product and service offers, you have the right to choose which lists you are member of. You are under no obligation to be a member of any list, although we recommend you receive service information.

Should you have any questions or comments on our privacy policy, please feel free to contact us directly. member.services@town.org.uk
